Saltwater fisherman relearning the basics. Would appreciate some help or rates on my setup.
Rod: 7' light action rated 1/4 – 1/2 oz
Reel: Okuma Ceymar C-40
Line: I actually don't know. I bought the reel at a garage sale. I'm thinking if re-spooling with 8lb or 10lb line
I'm in the northern CA area, specifically in an area with a really good wild trout fishery. My biggest concern with this setup is that the lure options I saw at a local tackle shop were leaning more towards the smaller side (1/8 was common). Could I just use splitshots to add weight or would that mess with the action of crankbaits and spinners?
