Hello, my son and I are inexperienced anglers. Self taught with no mentors, besides the internet. We need some help.
We have been able to catch and release trout on our spinning rods, but now, we both want to eat what we catch. How can I best prepare to catch, kill, and preserve our catch?
The internet is full of suggestions. Should I use a stringer off the dock? Put them on ice right away? Let them suffocate in a cooler? Whens the best time to kill the fish? Bonk them on the head? Cut the gills? What equipment should i have on hand?
To ethically dispatch the fish and keep it safe for consumption, how long do I have to gut and clean the fish?
Lots of questions and clarification, I'm sure I will have more. Thank you, I appreciate the knowledge.
