Been getting skunked at my usual spot for weeks.
Decided to get out there this morning and try soaking some power bait – caught a little brown that I released and my first rainbow that I kept for dinner tonight!
They stopped showing interest in the power bait after I pulled in the rainbow so I switched to a yellow rooster tail with silver spinner and headed to the main hole to throw a couple before I called it a day.
Was on my last couple casts when I get hit hardddd by a monster. Up until now I hadn’t had any trout that put up a fight but this baby was fighting !
Got it right up to shore trying to keep tension on the line, saw it roll at the top of the water and then poof, spit the hook and then sadness from me. Would’ve been my PB by far and I was devastated
Good to see that the power bait is working though and the fish are still hitting in the morning!
