Never trout fished before on my own only one steelhead trip what technique should i use

I’m in Alaska and want to try trout fishing we have a guide for salmon fishing but want to try to catch a few trout I’m fishing the Russian/Kenai are guide recommended a bead rig but not sure if I’ll have much luck right now with the reds running
