I’m really interested in the history of fishing, trout species introduction, and how we decided (or how the state decided I guess) how and what to stock our rivers in the US. I know this is a really weird thing to worry about but I just have so many questions. Like why are rainbows stocked everywhere, are they just the cheapest and hardiest option? Why don’t we raise and stock more natives if we are trying to save their populations? Who and when made these decisions? Is it sustainable the way we are doing things now? anyways, answers are appreciated but would also like to read some source material so any books would be great, thanks!
