Resources for a Newbie!

I am a newbie here and new to trout fishing!

I have been fishing my entire life, but primarily intercoastal water, deep sea, and some surf. Never in my life fresh water until a few weeks ago.
I moved to southeast PA, several years back and all but gave up
Fishing, this summer I got my trout license and I’m currently exploring some nearby creeks and rivers.
I have caught several sunnies, but haven’t even gotten a trout to bite despite me seeing them in the water every time I’m out.
I’m currently using my lightest rod and spinning reel, but it does have at least a 20# mono on it which I understand is probably too heavy. I’ve tried corn, a maggot-looking lure, and salmon egg bait (all of which a coworker told me to try). Generally I’m using a bobber and 2-3 split shot about 12” above a 6 or 10 hook.

I’m not trying to break any records here, but it would be great to catch a fish again! Can you give me some advice on how to get set up as a beginner, or link a resource to give me some guidance? I’ve tried googling, but everyone is selling something and any useful tips seem to be pretty deeply buried.
Thanks!
